Vicar Philip
Vicar Philip began serving at Brickerville United Lutheran Church in August 2024. In addition, he serves as the Vicar at Jerusalem Evangelical Lutheran Church. Vicar Philip is currently completing the requirements for ordination through the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America’s Theological Education for Emerging Ministries program and attends United Lutheran Seminary – Gettysburg Campus. Vicar Philip was raised in Southern Lancaster County, graduated from Penn Manor High School, Indiana University of Pennsylvania, and Booth University College. Prior to entering full time ministry, Vicar Philip spent twenty-eight years in the hospitality industry working in the lodging, restaurant, non-profit, and senior living segments throughout Southern Vermont, South Central Pennsylvania, and in the City of Philadelphia. Community Picnic and Concert in the Park
​
The community is invited to attend Brickerville United Lutheran’s Community Picnic in the Park on Saturday, July 5, from 3:30 to 8:00 p.m. The picnic will take place at the church’s shaded picnic grove at 340 E. 28 th Division Highway, Lititz (Brickerville). The Ringgold Band of Reading will once again provide entertainment. www.ringgoldband.com Food will be available for purchase including homemade chicken corn soup, hamburgers, hotdogs, beef barbecue, fresh fruit salad and dinner salads, homemade desserts, and ice cream. The picnic will be held rain or shine. We will be honoring all veterans and active military. Donations are accepted to help offset costs but are not required. Please bring lawn chairs or blankets to enjoy the outdoor performance under the shade trees.

Job Description
Organist/Pianist - Part Time
Reports To: Vicar/Pastor
In absence of a called Vicar/Pastor the Organist/Pianist will report to the Council President.
Supervises: Not Applicable
Requirements: The Organist/Pianist will provide music leadership, accompaniment, and education to the congregation while remaining proficient in playing a multi-rank organ and/or piano. The Organist/Pianist will demonstrate on-going knowledge of hymnody and liturgy of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America. Will work up to ten hours per week in fulfillment of the job duties. The Organist/Pianist is required to attend and participate in Sunday Morning Worship, Christmas Eve, Lenten Week and any other special services.
Job Duties: Serve as an active member of the Worship and Music Committee.
Select music for worship services and other events including, but not limited to, preludes, hymns, anthems, and postludes.
Work with the Vicar/Pastor and Office Administrator to prepare and present a monthly list of selected music with educational notes to the Worship and Music Committee for inclusion in the weekly bulletin and monthly newsletter.
Report maintenance and repair needs to the Worship and Music Committee for all musical instruments.
Purchase and maintain a music library within spending plan limits.
Assist with Special Music.
Attend monthly Worship and Music Committee meetings and all other meetings as requested.
Communicate all planned absences no less than three weeks in advance.
Responsible for finding an approved organist/pianist for all planned absences.
Provide notice of resignation at least four weeks prior to the final Sunday.
The Organist/Pianist is expected to plan and perform at funerals, weddings and special events.
Complete all other tasks as assigned.
